Keys topples Bondar to reach Charleston Open quarters
Madison Keys overcame Anna Bondar in straight sets to book her place in the last eight of the Charleston Open.
Keys, who won the event in 2019, triumphed 6-2 7-5 on Thursday.
The 2025 Australian Open champion got the better of Bondar's serve five times, and will now take on Belinda Bencic for a place in the semi-finals.
"Obviously a tough matchup," Keys said of facing Bencic, who she holds 3-2 record against.
"We've gone back-and-forth a few times, and she's just so good at taking the ball early, and kind of no matter what surface we're on, she just always kind of plays how she wants to play, and I think that makes her really dangerous.
"It's going to be a tough match and another day where I'm going to have to really just try to make sure that my weapons are working for me."

Paula Badosa, meanwhile, went down in straight sets to Anna Kalinskaya.
Data Debrief: Keys tops the lot
Keys has now won 23 matches at the Charleston Open, which means she holds the competition record.
She has moved ahead of Serena Williams, Vera Zvonareva and Jelena Jankovic, who previously shared the record on 22.
