Stephen Curry told his Golden State Warriors team-mates to "be professional" after the Indiana Pacers dropped them to their second straight defeat.

Just 48 hours after their 120-110 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, the Warriors went down by a 114-109 scoreline at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Curry had a team-high 24 points against a team that had made a 0-5 start to the season, but Aaron Nesmith (31 points), Pascal Siakam (27) and Quenton Jackson (25) made valuable contributions for last season's NBA Finals runners-up.

The Warriors led by as many as 11 points in the fourth quarter, but Indiana overcame the absences of Tyrese Haliburton, Obi Toppin, Bennedict Mathurin and Andrew Nembhard to register a comeback win.

The Warriors are back in action against the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday, and Curry says there can be no excuses as they seek to get back to winning ways.

"Just be professional. Understand what you need to do to get your body and your mind ready to bring your best self," Curry said when asked how the Warriors must respond.

"Again, that's where we as vets, I look at myself.

"You've got to be able to demonstrate that execution, even if you don't have it physically at 10 out of 10. You're able to control a game on both ends with your brain.

"Answer the call, watch the film, understand how the league is going with different lineups out there, and how fast teams are trying to play, and make the necessary adjustments."
