India grouped with Pakistan in T20I World Cup, England face debutants Italy

India will face Pakistan in the group stage of the 2026 T20I World Cup as they look to defend their title on home soil.

The tournament, which will also be co-hosted by Sri Lanka, features four groups of five countries, with the top two from each group entering the Super Eight phase.

India and Pakistan were drawn together in Group A, while Australia and Sri Lanka are both in Group B with Ireland.

England will take on West Indies and tournament debutants Italy in Group C, with New Zealand, South Africa and Afghanistan set to face off in Group D.

The competition will get underway on February 7, with Pakistan and the Netherlands getting things started, before the final on March 8.

The showpiece match will take place in either Ahmedabad, India or Colombo, Sri Lanka, depending on whether Pakistan reach the final.

Due to ongoing tensions with India, Pakistan will play all their matches in Sri Lanka.
