'I still should have done way better' – Doncic disappointed despite triple-double in Spurs loss
Luka Doncic says he "still should have done way better" during the Los Angeles Lakers' loss to the San Antonio Spurs despite scoring a triple-double.
The Spurs recorded a 107-91 win over the Lakers, who were without LeBron James due to arthritis and sciatica, and moved into second place in the Western Conference.
Doncic led the team with 38 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists, but was one of just three players to score double figures in points, along with Jake LaRavia (16) and Jaxson Hayes (10).
Given the circumstances, the Slovenian was proud of how the team performed, but he believes an even bigger performance from himself could have turned the tide.
"I think I still should have done way better than this," Doncic said.
"Missed free throws, turnovers. We had some great looks, too. We could have knocked them down, but we didn't.
"Obviously, we hate losing, but I'm really proud of every guy to step on the floor. I think we fought very hard.

"We're down LeBron, which is hard to compete with that. I think everybody that left the court should be feeling proud.
"We play hard. We're in the game most of the game away against San Antonio, which is a great team. The process has been great."
For San Antonio, Keldon Johnson had 27 points, and Victor Wembanyama added 16 points and 14 rebounds, his 15th double-double of the season, to help them to the win.
It was a victory that halted a run of two straight losses, and Wembanyama has urged the Spurs to find some consistency if they want to stay in the mix at the top.
"It's bound to happen [they find some consistency]. We have to reduce the amount of times it happens the most possible, and that's what it's going to show what we're made of," he said.
"It [a big win] sometimes can be a reset when you're in a bad losing streak, or the opposite cannot happen if you're in a winning streak.
"Too many games, too easy to make mistakes again."
