Mavericks trading Davis to Wizards
Anthony Davis’ injury-plagued tenure in Dallas is ending with the Mavericks set to trade the 10-time All-Star to the Washington Wizards.
Davis, D'Angelo Russell, Jaden Hardy and Dante Exum are headed to Washington with the Mavericks acquiring Khris Middleton, AJ Johnson, Malaki Branham, Marvin Bagley III, a pair of first-round draft picks and three second-round selections.
Davis has been sidelined since sustaining ligament damage in his left hand in Dallas' 116-114 loss to the Utah Jazz on January 8.
It was just the 20th appearance of the season for the oft-injured Davis and his 29th overall with the Mavericks (19-31) since being acquired in the trade that sent Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers a little over a year ago.
Davis averaged 20.4 points, 11.1 rebounds and 1.65 blocks this season for Dallas, who had been rumoured to be shopping the defensive standout to build around No. 1 overall draft pick Cooper Flagg.

Davis is the second injured star the lowly Wizards (13-36) have acquired over the last month after Washington obtained four-time All-Star Trae Young from the Atlanta Hawks.
Young has been out since late December with a right quad issue.
Dallas entered Wednesday’s action in 12th place in the Western Conference and 3 ½ games behind the Portland Trail Blazers for the 10th and final Play-In position.
The Mavericks landed two players averaging double figures in scoring in Middleton (10.3 points per game) and Bagley (10.1), while Russell joins Washington after averaging 10.2 points in 26 games for Dallas.
