Celtics acquire Vucevic in trade with Bulls
The Boston Celtics have a new big man.
Two-time All-Star Nikola Vucevic has reportedly been traded to the Celtics from the Chicago Bulls in exchange for Anfernee Simons on Tuesday.
The teams also swapped second-round draft picks, according to Shams Charania of ESPN.
Vucevic, 35, is averaging 16.9 points, 9.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 48 games this season, while shooting 50.5 per cent from the floor, as well as 37.6 per cent on 3-pointers. He has been with Chicago since being acquired from the Orlando Magic in March 2021.
The 15-year-veterarn centre gives the Celtics a needed presence in the frontcourt, as Boston is led by five-time NBA All-Star Jaylen Brown and fellow guards Derrick White and Payton Pritchard.
Simons appeared in 49 games for the Celtics- all off the bench - and was averaging 14.2 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists, while shooting 39.5 per cent on 3-pointers.

Boston (31-18), which has won the last four Atlantic Division crowns, entered play Tuesday tied with the New York Knicks for first place, and 5 1/2 games behind the Eastern Conference-leading Detroit Pistons.
The Bulls (24-26) are in ninth place in the East, two games back of the eighth-place Orlando Magic and a half-game ahead of the 10th-place Atlanta Hawks.
Dealing Vucevic was the second trade of the day for the Bulls, who earlier sent Kevin Huerter and Dario Saric to the Pistons for Jaden Ivey in a deal which also landed them Mike Conley Jr. from the Minnesota Timberwolves.
