Coco Gauff will face Aryna Sabalenka or Elena Rybakina for the Miami Open title after she comfortably reached Saturday's final with a straight-sets win over Karolina Muchova.

Gauff edged closer to becoming the second American woman to win the crown since the tournament became a WTA 1000 event in 2021, with a 6-1 6-1 semi-final victory.

She set the tone for the match early on, despite being broken by Muchova in the opening game. Gauff went on to win the next six games but was put through her paces in doing so.

The American was forced to save three break points in a mammoth third game, and she went on to squander three chances of her own before eventually taking the first set.

The second set followed a similar pattern as Gauff put together back-to-back breaks of serve to surge into a 4-0 lead and put Muchova on the brink of exiting the tournament.

Muchova eventually got herself on the board, but it proved too little, too late, as the fourth seed dusted herself down and sealed her progression against the serve in some style.

Data Debrief: Gauff follows in Serena's footsteps

Gauff is the youngest American to reach the final at the Miami Open since Serena Williams in 2003, and she will be hoping to join the eight-time champion by lifting the title.

She has also reached her sixth career WTA 1000 final, becoming the third-youngest player since the format's introduction in 2009 to achieve the feat, older only than Caroline Wozniacki and Iga Swiatek.

Gauff has now won all of her six career meetings with Muchova, her best win rate against a player at WTA level without ever losing.
