England skipper Brook hails win over Sri Lanka despite 'worst pitch I've ever played on'
Harry Brook saluted England's ability to adapt during their victory over Sri Lanka on "probably the worst pitch I've ever played on".
The tourists levelled the ODI series after a five-wicket win in Colombo, where they successfully chased down their target of 220.
England bowled an ODI record 40.3 overs of spin during the second match at the R Premadasa Stadium, eclipsing their tally of 36 against Pakistan in 1985.
Brook's side ended their run of 11 straight ODI defeats away from home, tasting success for the first time in the format since beating West Indies in November 2024, though the skipper was far from complimentary about the conditions.

"The pitch is probably the worst pitch I've ever played on," Brook said. "You had to go out there and adapt as quickly as possible and try to get off strike and get the other batter on strike.
"It's nice to get a win away from home on a tough surface – we are happy to get the victory."
Brook also paid tribute to Joe Root, who played a key role for England with an impressive knock of 75.
"He [Root] is an awesome player, and his ability to get off strike and put the bad ball away when they slightly miss is awesome," the skipper added. "Joe is a phenomenal player to have in our side."
