India captain Suryakumar Yadav smashed an unbeaten 82 off 37 balls to guide India to a seven-wicket win over New Zealand, seeing them go 2-0 up in the five-match T20I series.

Ishan Kishan also scored 76 off 32 deliveries as India managed to chase down a target of 209 in just 15.2 overs in Raipur.

The Black Caps got off to a solid start after being put into bat, with Rachin Ravindra scoring 44 off 26 after Tim Seifert (26) and Devon Conway (19) made quickfire runs in the powerplay.

However, the tourists' middle order could not build on that foundation, though skipper Mitchell Santner (47 not out) did help them surpass the 200-run mark.

India made a nightmare start in their chase, with Sanju Samson (six) removed by Matt Henry (1-41) before Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for a golden duck by Jacob Duffy (1-38).

But Kishan got the hosts back on track before Yadav and Shivan Dube, who scored an unbeaten 36 off 18 deliveries, got India over the line with plenty of balls to spare.

Data Debrief: Tough day for the seamers

After Adam Milne was ruled out of the T20 World Cup for New Zealand with a hamstring injury, Santner would have been hoping for a strong performance from his seamers.

Instead, they conceded 16 fours and eight maximums, as well as seven wides, as India hit them to all parts of the ground.

It was a tough game for Zakary Foulkes in particular, as he conceded 67 runs from his three overs. That is the most runs conceded by a Black Caps bowler in a T20I innings, going past Ben Wheeler's 64 against Australia in February 2018.
