Blair Tickner took four wickets as Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell put on half-centuries to see New Zealand to a comfortable five-wicket win over England.

The tourists' Ashes preparation took another hit in Hamilton on Wednesday, as they went down 2-0 in the three-match series.

England's top-order faltered, with Ben Duckett (one) and Jamie Smith (13) succumbing within the first six overs.

Joe Root (25) and captain Harry Brook (34) offered some resistance, but only Jamie Overton, who plundered 42 runs from 28 balls, was able to truly trouble New Zealand's bowlers as England mustered just 175, with Tickner (4-34) tidying up the tail.

Jofra Archer pinned Will Young lbw on a duck in the first over of New Zealand's chase, but Ravindra (54) and Kane Williamson (21) steadied the ship for the hosts before the latter was bowled by Overton.

Archer sent Ravindra packing shortly after he had surpassed 50, and the England paceman capped a strong display by dismissing Michael Bracewell (five) to finish on 3-23 from his 10 overs.

However, by that stage, New Zealand had already reached 118-5, and Mitchell (56 not out) and Mitchell Santner (34) duly steered them to a comprehensive win with 101 balls to spare.

Data Debrief: Mitchell's marvellous ODI form continues

One of New Zealand's matchwinners, Mitchell, has now scored 40+ runs in six of his last seven ODIs. He had only passed that mark once in his previous four matches in the format.

He is unbeaten so far in this series, having put on 78 not out in the first match, and now 56 here.

New Zealand, meanwhile, have reeled off three straight ODI wins against England for the first time since a run of five straight victories between June 2008 and February 2013.

While the Black Caps have won 11 straight ODIs at Seddon Park, England have now lost their last nine ODIs away from home.
