Davis Cup: Comeback kings Spain seal semi-final spot
Spain booked their place in the Davis Cup semi-finals after coming from behind to beat Czechia 2-1 in Bologna.
Despite the last-minute withdrawal of world number one Carlos Alcaraz through injury, David Ferrer's side advanced to the last four, where they will face Argentina or Alexander Zverev's Germany.
Czechia, three-time Davis Cup winners, had beaten a USA team featuring Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe to book their place in the quarter-finals.
They made a strong start, with Jakub Mensik enjoying a straight-sets victory over Pablo Carreno Busta, who was beaten 7-5 6-4.
However, Spain fought back as Jaume Munar defeated Jiri Lehecka 6-3 6-4 to force a doubles decider.
Mensik and Tomas Machac saw two set points go begging for the Czechs in the opener, which went to a tie-break, with Marcel Granollers and Pedro Martinez digging deep to draw first blood.
Once again, Tomas Berdych's side failed to convert set points in the second, and were punished as Mensik's double-fault sealed a 7-6 (10-8) 7-6 (10-8) victory for Spain.

Data Debrief: Comeback kings Spain strike again
It is fair to say Spain have gone above and beyond to secure their place in the semi-finals for the first time since lifting the trophy for a sixth time in 2019.
They seemed set to miss out on a place in the quarter-finals at 2-0 down against Denmark in the second round, only to fight back and prevail 3-2 in Marbella.
Spain's hopes also suffered a blow with the injury to Alcaraz, but Munar stepped up in his absence on Thursday to draw them level with his first win in a Davis Cup singles match.
