Elena Rybakina is within touching distance of reaching the last four of the WTA Finals after a brilliant comeback against Iga Swiatek.

Rybakina now has two wins from two and tops the Serena Williams Group, putting herself in pole position to progress to the semi-finals.

The Kazakh, who had lost her last four meetings with Swiatek, had to fight back from a set down on Monday, but did so in emphatic fashion to seal a 3-6 6-1 6-0 triumph.

Rybakina turned the match in her favour in the second set, breaking decisively early on before winning on Swiatek's serve again to move into a 5-1 lead.

Indeed, game four of the second set was the last one Rybakina lost as she made light work of the world number two in just 97 minutes.

A third-set bagel capped a clinical triumph for Rybakina, who will go up against reigning Australian Open champion Madison Keys in her third and final group match.

Data Debrief: Rybakina hits her stride

Rybakina is the second player to claim 40 hard-court WTA-level wins in 2025, after Swiatek.

She now has the second most wins over players ranked in the top two among active female players, with 11, after Venus Williams (28).

Swiatek, meanwhile, is the first player to lose three matches in a season with a 0-6 third-set scoreline since Flavia Pennetta did so in 2013.
