Roland-Garros champion Andreeva dumped out of Bad Homburg
Mirra Andreeva suffered a shock defeat to Ekaterina Alexandrova at the Bad Homburg Open.
In her first match since claiming the trophy at Roland-Garros – her first grand slam title – Andreeva capitulated to a 6-3 6-4 defeat.
The world number five ceded control to Alexandrova when she lost three service games on the bounce.
Alexandrova's first break came towards the end of the first set, as she went 5-3 up.
The world number 19 kept up the momentum at the start of the second, twice getting the better of Andreeva's serve, and though the teenager broke back to pull herself into contention, Alexandrova held firm to serve out the victory to love.

While Andreeva must lick her wounds, there was no surprise at the Eastbourne Open, as second seed Madison Keys – who has slipped down to number 27 in the WTA rankings – dispatched Jessica Bouzas Maneiro 6-0 6-1.
Alexandrova clinches first top-five win of 2026
Alexandrova is now into double figures when it comes to victories over players ranked in the top five by the WTA (100.
However, this was her first such win of 2026, and she has now reached a quarter-final for the first time since her run to the final in Abu Dhabi in February.
Alexandrova reached the last eight in Bad Homburg last year, but lost to Anna Bondar.
