Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White admits she found herself in awe of "two great players making plays" as Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers went head-to-head in the WNBA on Friday.

Clark's Fever outlasted Bueckers' Dallas Wings for a 98-87 victory at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, a result that improved Indiana to 22-12 for the year.

Clark had 29 points and 10 assists, her seventh game with at least 25 points and 10 assists this season – more than any other WNBA player has tallied in their entire career.

Bueckers also put up 29 points, adding six assists and six rebounds, with the two stars both shooting over 50% from the field as their head-to-head battle went to a new level in the third quarter, with two of the sport's biggest names matching each other shot-for-shot.

It was only the sixth regular-season WNBA game in which two former number one overall draft picks both had 25 or more points and five or more assists, leaving White feeling fortunate to have witnessed their battle.

"When you've got two great players that can create shots for themselves really easily, there are flows in the game where I think you're going to see that," White said. 

"We see it in the NBA all the time. I think that as players keep getting better, we're seeing it in the WNBA as well. 

"It was fun to watch for a little while. I just thought it was two great players making great plays."

Clark dropped 20 of her 29 PTS in the second half, finishing with 10 AST on 11-of-18 shooting to lead the @IndianaFever to their third straight win!

And though it was Clark that came out on the winning side, she reserved lofty praise for Bueckers, saying: "Paige is a tremendous player. 

"She takes what the defense gives her, she doesn't force anything. She's smooth. She finds the open team-mate. 

"So, she's just a really tough guard. With really good players, you've got to throw a lot of different things at them. They're going to make tough shots, and you live with some of them. 

"Then I thought in the fourth quarter, we did a tremendous job of kind of taking her out of things."

The Wings are now 20-15 for the season, with their next game being a road matchup with the Golden State Valkyries on Monday. The Fever visit the Atlanta Dream next on Saturday.
