Thunder's Holmgren to miss 8 to 10 weeks for knee
The injury news continues to get worse for the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Big man Chet Holmgren is expected to miss 8 to 10 weeks after testing showed he has a small patella tendon tear in his right knee.
Holmgren experienced mild discomfort in his right knee on Oct. 25. Following consultations with specialists, the team determined he needed biological treatment for the tear. The Thunder said Friday’s treatment was successful with Holmgren expected to make a full recovery.
Through three games this season, the 7-foot-1 Holmgren is averaging 12.0 points, 9.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 3.0 blocks. He set career highs last season with 17.1 points and 8.9 rebounds.
Holmgren joins All-Star wing Jalen Williams (fibula, ankle) and All-Defensive guard Cason Wallace (shoulder) on the team’s injury list.
All three starters are sidelined indefinitely.
