Iga Swiatek brushed aside Diana Shnaider in straight sets to reach the semi-finals of the Canadian Open.

The seventh seed won 6-2 6-1 in just 64 minutes as she continued to build momentum in Toronto.

Swiatek wasted no time in finding her rhythm as she broke Shnaider's serve in the opening game of the match, before doing so again to go 5-2 up.

After seeing out the first, Swiatek was even more ruthless in the second, winning six consecutive games without giving up a single break point on her way to victory.

"I've been feeling good on the court. I know how much I practiced and what we did [during] the practices," Swiatek said in her on-court interview.

"This is giving me confidence. It's just a matter of being in a good place that day and using it.

"So, I'm trying to do my best every day, keep my routines, be really focused, and for sure, I'm really happy to be in a semi-final."

Swiatek must now prepare for a big test in the last four as she faces Elina Svitolina for a place in the Canadian Open final.

Svitolina came from a set down to defeat Ekaterina Alexandrova, who knocked out Aryna Sabalenka in the previous round, 3-6 6-0 6-3 on Monday.

Swiatek has not hidden her disappointment with her performances this year, as she is yet to win a tour title in 2026.

Her Wimbledon title defence also ended in the third round, and despite dropping to eighth in the WTA rankings, she is back on track ahead of this month's US Open.

Swiatek has reached a 23rd WTA-1000 semi-final, equalling compatriot Agnieszka Radwanska for the fourth-most since the format's introduction in 2009. She now only trails Simona Halep (29), Serena Williams (26) and Victoria Azarenka (24).

And since 1990, Swiatek (67.8%, 101-48) only trails four players for career win rate against WTA top 20 opponents – Steffi Graf (82.1%), Williams (75.3%), Monica Seles (70.4%) and Martina Hingis (67.9%).

Svitolina (10), meanwhile, has become the second player aged 30+ to claim 10+ consecutive WTA-1000 match wins, along with Williams.
