Jannik Sinner progressed to the semi-finals of the Paris Masters with a comfortable win against Ben Shelton.

The second seed, who will return to world number one if he wins the tournament, emerged the 6-3 6-3 victor in the French capital in 70 minutes and will face either Alexander Zverev or Daniil Medvedev in the last four.

Having saved two break points early in the first, Shelton saw his serve broken in the fifth game before Sinner closed out the set with another break of serve.

And although Sinner carried that momentum into the second set and broke Shelton again, this time in the fourth game, the American responded instantly by converting his only break point of the match.

However, he only seemed to delay the inevitable as Sinner got the better of Shelton’s serve one last time before clinching victory with his first match point.

Sinner’s victory saw him reach his 13th career semi-final at ATP Masters 1000 events, while he is also the first Italian player to reach the last four at this tournament.

Since the start of the 2020 season, only two players have reached more ATP Masters 1000 semi-finals than Sinner (13) – Zverev (14) and Novak Djokovic (13).

The world number two also extended his winning streak on indoor courts to 24 matches, a run that started in November 2023.
