Romario Shepherd took a hat-trick for West Indies as they clinched a T20I series sweep against Bangladesh with a five-wicket win on Friday.

After restricting the hosts to 151 all out from their 20 overs, West Indies chased down the total with 19 balls to spare at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.

It was a disappointing batting display from Bangladesh, but opener Tanzid Hasan did manage to score 89 off 62 balls to salvage a respectable score for his side.

Saif Hasan (23) was the only other player to reach double figures for Bangladesh as Shepherd (3-36) and Khary Pierre (2-23) rattled their way through the hosts' batting lineup.

West Indies found themselves in a tricky position after early wickets saw them fall to 52-3 inside eight overs, but a 91-run partnership of 46 balls from Roston Chase (50) and Ackeem Auguste (50) brought them closer to victory.

And the tourists were powered over the line by Rovman Powell (five not out) and Gudakesh Motie (three not out), despite the best attempts of Rishad Hossain (3-43).

Data Debrief: Perfect T20I trip for West Indies

This victory marked the first time that West Indies have recorded a three-match T20I series sweep away from home in their history.

The Bangla Tigers, meanwhile, succumbed to their first such series sweep at home since losing 0-3 to Pakistan in September 2021.

Shepherd's hat-trick saw him become just the second West Indies player to achieve the feat in men's T20Is after team-mate Jason Holder.
