Russell and Maxwell released ahead of 2026 IPL auction
Andre Russell and Glenn Maxwell will be up for grabs in the 2026 IPL auction after they were released by the Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings, respectively.
Russell has represented KKR since the 2014 edition of the tournament, lifting the trophy in his debut season with the franchise before doing so again in 2024.
During his spells with KKR and the Delhi Capitals (2012-2013), Russell scored 2,651 runs in the competition at a strike rate of 174.2, while also taking 123 wickets.
Maxwell, meanwhile, has scored 2,819 runs in the IPL since his debut season in 2012, but has scored just a combined 100 over the last two seasons.
He has represented PBKS, the Royal Challengers Bangalore, the Delhi Capitals and the Mumbai Indians during his time in the competition, with his most prolific season with the bat coming in 2014 (552 runs in 16 innings).
