Patidar and RCB want IPL glory for Kohli
Rajat Patidar says the Royal Challengers Bengaluru are determined to win the Indian Premier League title for Virat Kohli.
Kohli has been with RCB since their inception in 2007 and has played in three IPL finals during his 17 seasons with them, but has not won any of them.
RCB finished as runners-up in 2009, 2011 and 2016, with this their first final since losing to Sunrisers Hyderabad nine years ago, though Punjab Kings are also vying for their first title on Tuesday.
Kohli has put together another impressive season, recording 500 or more runs for a record eighth season.
He has also enjoyed a monumental 12 months, winning the T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy with India before announcing his retirement from Test cricket last month.
Patidar says RCB's motivation comes from the need to help Kohli get his hands on the trophy.
"Of course [they want to win for Kohli]. I think he has given a lot of years to RCB and the international side also," Patidar said.
"We will try to do our best in the game. We are not looking on the stage that we are in the finals. We will try to play our best cricket.
"We are not playing here for the stage. I always like to keep things simple."
Eyes on the prize. Only 1 sleep away.

As captain, Kohli led RCB to the final in 2016, though he struggled to make a mark before eventually stepping down from the role in 2022.
Patidar took over the role after he was retained at the start of the season and led them to the final on their first attempt.
RCB demolished Punjab in the first qualifier last week, skittling them out for just 101 before storming to an eight-wicket victory.
And Patidar reflected on what he has taken from his first season in charge.
"Till now, I have enjoyed it [captaincy] a lot to be honest," he added.
"For me, I think it is a great opportunity to learn from the great leaders of the game, [some] great players, great foreign players of the game.
"It is a great opportunity for me to learn from them and their different ideas, which is helping me a lot in my leadership role."
