Lando Norris admitted he expected his Formula One title decider to be "a bit too chaotic" for him.

Norris clinched his first Drivers' Championship in December, finishing two points ahead of Red Bull's Max Verstappen in the standings.

The Briton knew heading into the final race of the season in Abu Dhabi that he needed a podium finish to secure the title, no matter Verstappen's or Oscar Piastri's results, and finished third to clinch the trophy.

Norris became the 35th driver in the history of the competition to be crowned world champion, as well as the eighth for McLaren and the first for them since Lewis Hamilton in 2008.

And the 26-year-old revealed he had concerns in the week ahead of the final race.

"The week leading up to the biggest race of my life. I didn't know how to feel, I didn't know how to act, I didn't know how I was meant to be," Norris said in a video uploaded to his YouTube channel.

"I didn't know if I was meant to be really excited or not, or scared.

"I thought I'd be pretty damn nervous, because I do get nervous every race, every qualifying, always. That's a known thing. I thought it would be a bit too chaotic.

"Getting in the car, I actually felt pretty ready. I felt very calm. Just another day in the office. I felt ready.

"I still knew in my head, this is it, and the time had come."
