The Phoenix Suns managed to end the Los Angeles Lakers' seven-game winning streak on Monday despite losing leading scorer Devin Booker to a right groin injury early in their 125-108 victory over the Pacific Division leaders.

Booker got off to a great start with 11 points, three assists and two rebounds in the first 10 minutes of action before his night ended.

The four-time All-Star came into the contest leading Phoenix (13-9) with 25.7 points and 6.9 assists per game while also averaging 4.4 rebounds.

Dillon Brooks had 33 points, and Collin Gillespie set career highs with 28 points and eight made three-pointers as the Suns pulled within three games of Los Angeles (15-5) in the Pacific.

Luka Doncic had another outstanding performance for the Lakers with 38 points, 11 rebounds and five assists, but it was not enough as Los Angeles lost for just the third time in their last 16 games.

Cunningham carries Pistons late

Cade Cunningham scored eight of Detroit's last 10 points to lift the Eastern Conference-leading Pistons to a 99-98 win over the Atlanta Hawks.

The game was tied at 89 before Cunningham's jump shot gave Detroit (17-4) the lead with 3:21 remaining.

After Caris LeVert's layup put the Pistons ahead 93-89 with just under three minutes to go, Cunningham scored the next six points for Detroit to help them hold off Atlanta (13-9).

Cunningham finished with 18 points, eight rebounds, eight assists, six steals and three blocks, while Jalen Duren had 21 points and 11 boards for the Pistons.

Jalen Johnson led the way with 29 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists for the Hawks, who had won four of their previous five games.

High-scoring Heat continue surge

The Miami Heat used another high-scoring performance to defeat the plummeting Los Angeles Clippers 140-123 and win for the seventh time in nine games.

It was the fifth contest this season in which Miami (14-7) scored at least 140 points, and the Heat rank second in the NBA with 124.3 points per game.

Miami tied a franchise record with 24 made three-pointers, with former Clippers swingman Norman Powell hitting a team-best six shots from beyond the arc and scoring a team-high 30 points.

Kawhi Leonard poured in 36 points as Los Angeles suffered their 14th loss in 16 contests and fell to 5-16 on the season.
