NBA: Suns avenge record loss to Thunder
Devin Booker hit a tie-breaking three-pointer with 0.7 seconds remaining Sunday as Phoenix exacted a measure of revenge on the Oklahoma City Thunder with a 108-105 win in a rematch of the Suns’ record-setting loss in the NBA Cup quarter-finals.
The Suns (21-14) and Thunder (30-6) met in the quarters on December 10, and it was all Oklahoma City as the defending NBA champions won 138-89 to send Phoenix to their worst defeat in team history.
It looked like the Thunder were on their way to another easy win Sunday after they took an 18-point lead in the second quarter, but the Suns chipped away before Booker’s game-winning shot.
Booker had 24 points, nine assists and six rebounds, and reserve guard Jordan Goodwin set career highs with 26 points and eight three-pointers as the Suns won for the sixth time in seven games.
Reigning league and NBA Finals MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 25 points for the league-leading Thunder, who have gone 6-5 since opening the season with 24 wins in 25 games.

The Detroit Pistons pushed their advantage over second-place Cleveland in the Central Division to seven games with a 114-110 victory that slowed down the Cavaliers.
The Eastern Conference-leading Pistons (26-9) entered the matchup with three losses in their previous four contests, while Cleveland (20-17) came in on a three-game winning streak.
The Cavaliers led by nine points with 7:25 left in the second quarter, but Detroit ended the first half on a 36-17 run before holding off Cleveland.
Cade Cunningham led the way for the Pistons with 27 points, seven assists, six rebounds and two steals, and Daniss Jenkins contributed 25 points and five assists in 25 minutes off the bench.
Cleveland’s Donovan Mitchell scored 30 for his 20th game with at least 30 points this season, tied with Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown for the second-most in the NBA behind Gilgeous-Alexander (26).

Powell, Heat beat Pelicans to bounce back
Norman Powell scored 34 points and hit a career-high nine three-pointers to help the Miami Heat get back on track with a 125-106 win over the New Orleans Pelicans.
Powell went 9 of 12 from beyond the arc and came one three-pointer shy of matching a franchise record for the Heat, who had their four-game winning streak snapped Saturday.
The victory kept Miami (20-16) in a tie for first place in the Southeast Division with Orlando (20-16) after the Magic defeated the NBA-worst Indiana Pacers on Sunday.
The Pelicans (8-29), last in the Western Conference, got 27 points, eight rebounds and five assists from Trey Murphy III in their seventh consecutive defeat.
