Karolina Muchova will face Victoria Mboko in the Qatar Open final after she came from a set down to beat Maria Sakkari on Friday.

Sakkari could not repeat the heroics of her quarter-final victory over Iga Swiatek, with Muchova emerging a 3-6 6-4 6-1 victor in a two-hour-and-13-minute contest.

The 14th seed's reward is a clash with Mboko in Saturday's final after the Canadian downed beaten 2025 finalist Jelena Ostapenko in straight sets earlier in the day.

Muchova made the faster start and got the better of Sakkari's serve in a mammoth third game in the opening set, only for her opponent to immediately break back.

From there, Sakkari reeled off four of the final five games to take the early advantage, but Muchova roared back in the second as five consecutive games put her 5-2 ahead.

Despite Sakkari's late attempts to seal her progression to the final, Muchova ensured the match would go the distance, and she reached the showpiece match in emphatic fashion.

The 2023 French Open finalist dropped just 12 points in a rampant third set, with Muchova concluding the contest with an ace that fizzed past the reach of Sakkari.

Data Debrief: Old is gold for Muchova

Muchova's route to the final has seen her beat the likes of Jaqueline Cristian and Anna Kalinskaya, but she saved perhaps her most impressive display for Sakkari here.

Indeed, she is just the second Czech player to reach her first three WTA-1000 finals on hard-court after Karolina Pliskova (Dubai 2015, Cincinnati 2016 and Miami 2019).

Muchova is also the second-oldest player to reach her maiden final at the Qatar Open since the inception of the tournament in 2001, younger only than Serena Williams in 2013.
