Victoria Mboko continued her fine run at the Qatar Open, stunning second seed Elena Rybakina to reach the semi-finals.

Rybakina has been in red-hot form, on a run that included her Australian Open triumph, but Mboko rallied to a 7-5 4-6 6-4 victory in just under two and a half hours.

The pair traded breaks early in the first set, though Rybakina looked to have swung the momentum in her favour as she raced into a 5-3 lead.

However, Mboko responded brilliantly, with a four-game winning streak taking her into the lead.

Rybakina rallied in the second set, though, and when Mboko cancelled out her advantage, the Kazakhstani instantly responded with another break.

After forcing a decider with her second set-point attempt, Rybakina once again struggled to hold onto a lead as she raced 4-2 ahead.

Mboko rounded off her victory with another four-game winning streak, breaking down a stubborn Rybakina in the last by converting her fourth match point.

The Canadian will now face Jelena Ostapenko in the semi-finals.

Data Debrief: Mboko breaks new ground

Since the event's inauguration in 2001, Mboko (19 years and 166 days) is the first teenager to claim multiple WTA top-10 wins at a single edition of the Qatar Open.

Mboko is also the first teenager to reach the women's singles semi-final at the tournament since her upcoming opponent, Ostapenko in 2016.

It is the 19-year-old's second career semi-final at a WTA-1000 event, after going on to claim tournament victory in Montreal last season.
