Cerundolo downs former champion Paul in Queen's final
Francisco Cerundolo became the first Argentine to win the Queen's Club Championship after he came from a set down to beat Tommy Paul in Sunday's final.
Cerundolo captured the biggest title of his career with a 6-7 (4-7) 6-4 6-3 victory in just over three hours at Andy Murray Arena, and things started well for the seventh seed.
The first game of the match saw Cerundolo break Paul's serve, but after a three-game winning streak by the American at the end of the first set, a tie-break was needed.
And that went in favour of Paul, who looked to be well on his way to a second title at Queen's when he got the better of Cerundolo's serve in the fifth game of the second set.
However, Cerundolo dusted himself down and won four of the remaining five games, two of which against the serve, to ensure the encounter would go the distance.
Cerundolo was able to get the break he craved in the sixth game of the deciding set, but at 5-3 up, he missed three championship points as Paul delayed the inevitable.
The win was sealed in a controlled rally masterminded by Cerundolo, who bided his time before smashing a forehand winner and collapsing to the floor in celebration.
"I can't believe it. I fought really hard during the whole week, every match was a war and I think I got the reward," said Cerundolo.
"Winning this title for me is unbelievable. Coming from Argentina and winning Queen's, such a historic event on grass. I never imagined I'd lift this trophy."

Cerundolo the King of Queen's after ending Paul's winning streak
Cerundolo's three-set win in the final was the story of his week in London, having also been pushed the distance by Aleksandar Kovacevic, Arthur Fery and Brandon Nakashima, and he was able to find enough energy in reserve to get himself over the line here.
It is the second time Cerundolo has won a grass-court title, having also won in Eastbourne three years ago. He joins Andy Roddick and Felicano Lopez in becoming the only male players to have emerged victorious at both events.
His victory also ended Paul's nine-match winning run at Queen's, while Cerundolo is the fifth man to win multiple tour-level titles this season, joining Jannik Sinner (five), Ben Shelton (three), Carlos Alcaraz (two) and Daniil Medvedev (two).
