
Magic to acquire Bane from Grizzlies
The Orlando Magic are set to land Desmond Bane from the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for fellow guards Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Cole Anthony, four unprotected first-round draft picks and a first-round pick swap.
According to reports, Orlando will send Memphis the 16th overall pick in this month’s NBA Draft, the Phoenix Suns' first-round selection next year and the Magic’s own unprotected first-rounders in 2028 and 2030. The pick swap is slated to be lightly protected in 2029.
It is an upgrade at starting shooting guard for the Magic, who went with Caldwell-Pope at the position this past season.
Orlando (41-41) won the Southeast Division for the second straight campaign, with Caldwell-Pope making a team-leading 77 starts but averaging just 8.7 points.

He only averaged five points in the NBA Play-In Tournament and playoffs combined as the Magic were eliminated in the first round for the second year in a row.
In steps Bane, who played in 69 games for Memphis (48-34) this season and averaged 19.2 points, 6.1 rebounds and 5.3 assists.
The Grizzlies finished second in the Southwest Division and advanced out of the Play-In Tournament before getting swept by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the opening round of the playoffs.
Anthony, meanwhile, saw his scoring average dip to a career-low 9.4 points per game in 67 contests this season after the 2020 first-round draft pick averaged 13.5 points in Orlando’s past three campaigns.
