Hornets, guard Miller reach extension
The Charlotte Hornets and leading scorer Brandon Miller have agreed to a five-year contract extension worth $209million.
Miller, who was slated to become a restricted free agent following this season, topped the Hornets with 20.2 points per game in 2025-26 while averaging 4.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 65 contests.
Charlotte selected Miller with the second overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, and he was named NBA First-Team All-Rookie after averaging 17.3 points, 4.3 boards and 2.4 assists over 74 games.
Miller, however, was limited to 27 appearances in 2024-25 before a right wrist injury ended his season.
The 23-year-old guard has played in 166 career games (160 starts) and averaged 19 points, 4.6 rebounds and three assists.

Charlotte has missed the play-offs in all three of Miller’s seasons, but the Hornets went 44-38 last season to make it to the NBA Play-In Tournament as the No. 9 seed in the Eastern Conference.
They defeated the No. 10 Miami Heat in overtime before falling to the eighth-seeded Orlando Magic, with Miller combining for 37 points in those two games while shooting 14 of 27 (51.9 per cent) overall and 9 of 17 from 3-point range.
The Hornets open this season with a visit to the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday.
