Grizzlies' Edey out at least one month with injured ankle
Memphis Grizzlies centre Zach Edey has been diagnosed with a stress reaction in his left ankle and will be sidelined at least one month.
The Grizzlies said Thursday he will go through rehab and will be evaluated in about four weeks. He is expected to make a full recovery.
This is the same ankle he had surgery on in June, forcing him to miss the season's first 13 games.
Since making his season debut on November 15, he has played in all 11 Memphis games, averaging 13.6 points with team highs of 11.1 rebounds and 1.91 blocked shots. In his last six games, he was averaging 16.5 points and 14.0 boards with the Grizzlies going 5-1.
Memphis is 7-4 in games he plays, compared to 4-9 in games he doesn't.
A sprained left ankle also forced Edey to miss 12 games last season, but he went on to average 9.2 points and 8.3 rebounds and earn All-Rookie first team honours.
