Fritz topples Zverev to claim Stuttgart title
Taylor Fritz overcame home favourite Alexander Zverev to claim the Stuttgart Open final with a straight-sets victory.
The match was heavily interrupted by rain, but the American held strong to claim a 6-3 7-6 (7-0) victory in just under an hour-and-a-half on Sunday.
It took Fritz just half an hour to wrap up the first set, with a three-game winning streak at 3-3 getting him into the lead after a tight start.
Just two games of the second set were played before the rain started, stopping Zverev from trying to mount any momentum.
He did hold off the only break point he faced in the set, but Fritz was strong on serve, holding to love three times as the match remained finely poised and headed to a tie-break.
Fritz was in total control from there, though, not giving up a single point as he rattled off seven in a row to claim the title in Stuttgart for the first time.

Data Debrief: Fritz finds form
Fritz has struggled for form and with injuries in 2025, and was stunned in the first round of the French Open last time out.
However, back on grass, he has looked comfortable, and did not face a single break point in the final, while he made just 12 unforced errors to Zverev's 23.
This is his ninth career ATP title, and his fourth on grass, as he looks to get back on track before Wimbledon.
Zverev's first Tour-level final on grass since 2017 did not go to plan, and he has now lost his last four matches against Fritz.
