Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav played some fine shots, but there was no result between India and Australia in the opening T20I of their five-match series due to rain.
Australia elected to bowl first in Canberra, with Nathan Ellis (1-25) taking the early wicket of Abhishek Sharma (19).
Play was soon halted due to rain, though once the weather eased, India's Gill and Suryakumar got into their stride.
Gill clipped his way to 37 from just 20 deliveries, while India captain Suryakumar reached 39 from 24, before the weather closed in again with India on 97-1.
This time, there would be no second chance to get back out, with play officially called off.
The second match takes place in Melbourne on Friday.
