'Finals are different' – Sinner relishing Lehecka matchup in Miami showpiece
Jannik Sinner is anticipating a tough test against Jiri Lehecka in the Miami Open final as the two players prepare to go head-to-head for the title on Sunday.
World number two Sinner defeated Alexander Zverev in straight sets to reach the showpiece and keep his hopes of completing the Sunshine Double alive.
Since 1985, Sinner could become the eighth man to win both the Indian Wells and Miami Open titles in a calendar year, and the youngest since Novak Djokovic in 2011.
Sinner could also become the first male or female player to achieve the Sunshine Double without conceding a single set.
The Italian is in imperious form; Sinner has claimed both the most consecutive straight-sets wins (16) and the most consecutive sets (32) of any player at ATP Masters 1000 events in the format’s history.
"It has been an incredible swing," said Sinner. "I've been trying to play as many matches as possible, and I couldn't do any better.
"It’s definitely a court that suits him [Lehecka] very well and how he plays tennis.
"He has a very flat-hitting forehand and backhand, serving very well. He’s a very, very aggressive player, and this is perfect for these kinds of conditions here.
"Finals are different; there is more tension, which is normal, but I like to put myself in these situations."

Sinner holds a 3-0 head-to-head record against Lehecka at ATP level, with all three of Sinner’s wins coming in straight sets – at Indian Wells and Beijing in 2024, and Roland-Garros in 2025.
Lehecka has reached a maiden ATP Masters 1000 final, and just his second above ATP 250 level after Queen’s last June, when he lost to Carlos Alcaraz in three sets.
"I'm very excited that I'm in a final," said Lehecka. "At the same time, it's just a sport. There are more important things going on in the world right now.
"I'm just trying to do what I do best."
