Stephen Curry is ready to make his return for the Golden State Warriors, though he admits he is not fully over the thigh injury that has plagued him in recent weeks.

Curry sustained a right quad contusion during the Warriors' 104-100 loss to the Houston Rockets on November 26 and has missed their last five games.

Golden State have struggled in his absence, losing three games and winning just two, but Curry is set to return against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday despite not being 100% pain-free.

"It was a contusion that turned into, or was combined with, a muscle strain," Curry told reporters.

"The hardest part is getting a full range of motion back, which I only got back about three or four days ago.

"Right now, it's a pain-tolerance thing and it's about getting the strength back.

"All the work you put in – muscle endurance, getting everything firing along the whole chain – that's what the focus has been over the past week.

"Once I got the full range of motion back, I could get back on the floor pretty quickly and return to moving normally."

Curry is in his 17th NBA season and is averaging 27.9 points per game on 39.1% three-point shooting, as well as 4.0 assists.

The Warriors sit in eighth position in the Western Conference, with 13 victories and 12 losses.
