Napheesa Collier says her only focus is on "us getting a championship", brushing off claims by the Minnesota Lynx's coach that she could be the MVP.

The Lynx beat the Dallas Wings for the second time in five days with an 85-81 win on Wednesday, with Collier once again leading the side.

She finished with 28 points and eight rebounds, helping the Lynx to improve their perfect record at the start of the season to 3-0.

It was the third straight game in which she has scored 20+ points, making an exceptional start to the new WNBA season, with Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve believing she could make a push for the MVP award if she keeps up her level.

Last year, Collier was second in the voting, behind A'ja Wilson, but she did win the 2024 Defensive Player of the Year.

"Next step for her is obviously to have a season worthy of being MVP," Reeve said of Collier.

"I think that's what she's capable of doing. We all know that. Our fortunes hinge on her ability to do that.

"It's got to be on both ends of the floor, for sure. That's why I thought she was so impactful last year with getting Defensive Player of the Year.

"Honestly, if she's probably remotely close to last year, and maybe other players aren't otherworldly in what they do. Maybe a tick better than last year should get it done."

The Lynx reached the WNBA Finals last year and lost in five games to the New York Liberty in a tightly contested series.

And Collier says her main focus this season is on making sure the team come out on top.

"I'm really just focused on team stuff," Collier said. "We got so close to the championship last year.

"That's my number one goal. I think all of the other stuff comes after that. I'm just focused on us getting a championship."
