Harry Brook described Tom Banton's fine batting display as "unbelievable", with his maiden ODI century for England sealing a 2-1 win in their three-match series with Sri Lanka. 

With the series finely poised at The Kia Oval, England earned a dominant 223-run victory, with Banton plundering 126 from 105 balls to get the hosts to 355-7 in their innings. 

Sri Lanka crumbled to 132 all out in 29.1 overs, giving England a 223-run win and their biggest ODI victory against the tourists as everyone but Jofra Archer claimed a wicket. 

Following the early dismissals of Ben Duckett (0) and Joe Root (18), Banton and Brook (77) took the game to Sri Lanka, sharing an impressive 150-run stand off just 117 deliveries. 

Jordan Cox chipped in with 76 of his own, with Will Jacks (25) and Jamie Overton (21 not out) also playing their part in leading England to an impressive target. 

They made an ideal start by getting rid of Pathum Nissanka (1), Kamindu Mendis (12) and Kusal Mendis (35) inside the first 10 overs, and the early damage proved too difficult to come back from, with Janith Liyanage top-scoring with 19 from the rest of the order. 

But the day belonged to Banton, and Brook was thrilled with his display, telling TMS: "Unbelievable. To come in for these three games and stand up.

"To top it off, and go get a hundred, was outstanding. 

"He has got the ability to play spin, right-handed and left-handed. He has cashed in, and he fully deserves it.

"We will go over to Pakistan in mid-October, and we will try to go out there and try to do the same things. It will be slightly different with the lower, skiddy wickets."

It has been a turbulent summer both on and off the pitch for England, with Brendon McCullum resigning as Test Coach. 

But his ODI side maintained their momentum by winning a third series in a row as preparations continued for next year's World Cup. 

Series in Pakistan, Australia and South Africa are to come this winter, with Brook acknowledging he has some tough decisions to make for those series. 

"It's definitely a good problem to have," Brook added.

"We said before the series we are building towards a squad with that you feel if someone goes down someone can come in and fill that role.

"We saw that with Sonny Baker, Matthew Potts and Liam Dawson. It feels like we are building towards a strong squad."
