Harry Brook lauded England's "amazing achievement" as a thumping eight-wicket win over Sri Lanka sent his team to the top of the T20 world rankings.

England wrapped up a 3-0 series win in emphatic fashion at Old Trafford, where Sonny Baker (2-17) impressed with the ball and Jos Buttler (62 not out) led the way for the hosts with the bat.

Sri Lanka were bowled out for 124 inside 19 overs, with Jofra Archer (2-23) and Will Jacks (2-31) aiding Baker in working their way through the tourists' order.

Aneurin Donald (13) was dismissed by Tharindu Rathnayake (1-28) and Brook was run out on 33, but by the time the captain was sent packing, England were on the brink of victory.

Buttler steered them over the line, sending England to the top of the T20 rankings in the process.

"Amazing achievement, again, and one everyone should be very proud of," said Brook.

"Everybody stepped up in this series, especially lads who haven't played as much - Sonny for example. Jos, again. I could go through the whole team. We are adapting to conditions well.

"It [continuing good form] all comes down to adapting to conditions. We want to be a side when conditions aren't in our favour, we are able to manufacture a win. It might not be the prettiest but we are trending in the right direction."

Star bowler Baker enjoyed a brilliant series, taking six wickets in total for just 34 runs.

"My biggest commitment going from my first stint, into my Test debut and this, is be myself out there," Baker said.

"Against Ireland I was clutching back how the ODI [against South Africa] went.

"I am a carry-on merchant. Just be myself. Allowing myself to do that is the biggest commitment I have made."

Sri Lanka's stand-in captain Charith Asalanka, meanwhile, called on his team to show a united front.

He said: "Very disappointing series for us. This is an important eye-opener for us, where we stand in T20 cricket compared to one of the best teams in the world.

"This is the time for us to come together and find solutions to T20 problems."
