Devin Booker said "it means everything" to have become the all-time leading points scorer for the Phoenix Suns.

Booker surpassed Walter Davis' franchise record of 15,666 points with a 3-pointer against the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday.

The 28-year-old, who is in his 10th season with Phoenix, finished with 34 points, though could not prevent the Suns slipping to a 121-119 defeat.

However, he was nevertheless proud to have claimed a slice of Suns history.

"It means everything," Booker said.

"Just being drafted to a franchise that believed in me, taking a chance on me as an 18-year-old kid and going through a rebuild phase and just sticking with it. Keeping my head down. The love and support has always been there. I don't take it for granted.

"I take it seriously, putting 'Phoenix' across my chest."

Booker did, however, miss a late free throw that Deandre Ayton grabbed on the rebound, as the Trail Blazers held out for a tight win.

Coach Mike Budenholzer, though, only had positive words to share about Booker.

"The city loves Devin," Budenholzer said.

"He's the all-time leading scorer for the Phoenix Suns. He's our guy. He's special. A really, really special night for Book."

Booker is now on 15,678 points for the Suns.
