The Dallas Wings did not have 2025 No. 1 overall draft selection Paige Bueckers on the court Saturday night, but the team’s other rookies stepped up in a 79-71 victory that ended the Washington Mystics’ three-game winning streak.

Bueckers sat out due to a right knee injury, one day after the former University of Connecticut star had 27 points, six assists, two steals and two blocks in Dallas’ 94-86 loss to the Indiana Fever.

On Saturday, Dallas (5-13) jumped out to a 28-9 advantage after the first quarter and led 45-31 at half-time before the visiting Mystics (8-9) opened the third quarter on a 12-0 run to pull within 45-43.

The Wings, however, fought off Washington’s charge and pushed the lead back to 11 on Aziaha James’ three-pointer with 1:50 remaining in the third.

James and fellow rookie JJ Quinerly each scored a team-high 15 points for Dallas, which has won four of six games after opening the season with one win in 12 contests.

Washington failed to win its fourth consecutive game despite getting 22 points and 10 rebounds from 2025 No. 3 overall pick Sonia Citron.
