For a moment, it appeared the two-time defending WNBA MVP would deliver the Las Vegas Aces a win in the final seconds.

However, it was an undrafted rookie for the Chicago Sky who had the final say.

Sydney Taylor drained a 3-pointer with 0.9 seconds left to send the Sky to a dramatic 84-83 comeback victory over the visiting Aces on Saturday.

Taylor scored 13 of her 29 points in the fourth quarter for Chicago, which trailed by 10 with 7 ½ minutes to play before storming back.

Her final basket came on a catch-and-shoot off an inbounds pass from Natasha Cloud after A’ja Wilson had just put Las Vegas ahead 83-81 on a driving layup with 3.2 seconds remaining, giving her 36 points.

In need of a victory to give their dwindling play-off chances a jolt, the Sky (11-18), who entered play 0-6 in one-score games and overtime, went for the win against the defending champions and Taylor responded with her fifth 3-pointer of the game, sending the Chicago crowd into a frenzy.

The Aces (20-9) had one final chance but were unable to get a shot off in time, ending their seven-game winning streak over the Sky.

Wilson finished with 12 rebounds and Jackie Young also notched a double-double with 18 points and 11 boards. NaLyssa Smith added 17 points for Las Vegas, which received a total of five points from its reserves on 2-of-12 shooting.

Taylor also had trouble making shots early in the game, missing seven of her first eight attempts from the field before coming up clutch down the stretch.

Ionescu leads Liberty past Mercury

Sabrina Ionescu had 27 points and 10 assists, Han Xu scored 17 points off the bench, and the New York Liberty edged the Phoenix Mercury 94-92.

Xu, who had 11 points in nine minutes in the first half because Jonquel Jones was in foul trouble, shot 6 of 9 from the field, including 3 for 6 on 3-pointers. Jones had half her 16 points in the fourth quarter with nine rebounds and five assists.

Breanna Stewart had 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Liberty (17-13), who finished 19 of 19 from the foul line.

DeWanna Bonner and Kahleah Copper both had 25 points for the Mercury (11-19) and Alyssa Thomas had 17 points. Bonner played in her 565th career WNBA game, tied for second with Diana Taurasi for most in a career.
