'We all want the same thing' – Solanke asks for unity after potential Spurs turning point

Dominic Solanke wants to see a united front at Tottenham as he suggested the club's season may have turned a corner following their 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund.

A 2-1 home defeat to West Ham last weekend marked a new low in Spurs' Premier League season, and piled the pressure on boss Thomas Frank.

Yet some of that pressure was relieved as Spurs claimed a much-needed win on Tuesday to boost their chances of qualifying for the Champions League knockout stages.

Spurs maintained their perfect record at home in the competition and are now fourth in the standings with just one match remaining in the league phase.

And Solanke, who scored on his first start of the season, insists everyone involved with the club must be pulling in the same direction.

Asked by TNT Sports if this could be a turning point for Spurs, Solanke said: "I hope so. We've done quite well in the Champions League, and if you look back to last season and how well we did in the Europa League, it definitely gave the team confidence.

"We know we haven't been good enough in the Premier League this year, so hopefully this gives us the extra boost, we can improve in the league and continue in the Champions League.

"When we're all together – players, staff, fans – that's key. We're all one club, we all want the same thing. We need to put the performances in on the pitch like we did tonight and, hopefully, we can carry on the momentum."

Solanke scuffed in his maiden Champions League goal to make it 2-0 in the 37th minute, with Cristian Romero having put Spurs ahead early on.

"I would have preferred it to be a bit cleaner, but a goal's a goal," added the striker, who has endured an injury-plagued campaign.

"I'm so happy to be back out here. It's my first start since the last game of last season, so to be back out here and get the win meant the world. The Champions League is the competition that everyone wants to play in. It's the biggest club competition in the world.

"To get my first goal in it is something that you dream about."

Dortmund, who had Daniel Svensson sent off in the 26th minute, failed to have a single shot in the first half. It marked the first time in Opta's records (from 2003-04) that the German side ever failed to have at least one attempt in a single half of a Champions League game.

Spurs have won all four of their Champions League games at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season. That is twice as many wins as they have managed in 11 home Premier League matches in 2025-26 (two).

And Frank wants to take the momentum into a big clash with Burnley this weekend.

"Very happy that we won the game, for various reasons," Frank told TNT Sports.

"I think this is the eighth game in a row where we've done lots right. Now we've got a win as well. That means we look forward to another result on Saturday.

"We need to bring this win, this performance, momentum into Burnley, and we need to win."
