The Golden State Warriors must accept they are set for a place in the play-in tournament after their poor form continued.

That is the view of Steve Kerr, who saw his team lose for the sixth time in the space of seven games.

Golden State's only win in their poor run came on Tuesday, as they beat the Washington Wizards to bring up Kerr's 600th victory as a coach.

Yet the Warriors could not keep up the positive momentum against the Boston Celtics, as they went down 120-99.

The defeat leaves the Warriors 10th in the Western Conference. All five teams behind them are at least nine games back with 13 left to play.

But Kerr feels his team cannot realistically push for a playoff finish.

"Can we prepare ourselves for the play-in [tournament]?" asked Kerr, whose team are 33-36 for the season.

"We're going to be in the play-in. We know that.

"We've had our eyes on six for a while. That's out of the question now. We're not getting there.

"If we can string together some wins, try to get to eighth, that'd be ideal. Get two cracks at [getting in the playoffs]. But we're not getting to seven. We know that."

Kerr is, at least, positive that results can improve when the Warriors get some of their absent players, including talisman Stephen Curry, back on the court.

"We have to be prepared for when we get guys back, when Steph's back, when Moses [Moody] and Al [Horford] are back," he added.

"If we're prepared when they get back, we can do some damage and go on a run. But we can't have game-plan mistakes, we've got to build better habits, box out, take care of the ball in transition."
