Wales' winless run rolls on but Scotland triumph in New Zealand
Wales' long winless run stretched on after Japan scored late on to claim a 24-19 victory in Kitakyushu.
It looked as though Wales might claim their first Test victory since 2023 when they led 19-7 at the break.
Yet in sweltering conditions at Mikuni World Stadium, Japan hit back in the second half, with their winning try coming in the 70th minute.
Wales have now lost their last 18 non-exhibition matches, and have slipped down to an all-time low of 14th in the world rankings.
Japan, meanwhile, recorded just their second victory over Wales.

There was better luck for Scotland, as they kicked off their tour of New Zealand with a 29-26 win in a non-capped international against the Maori All Blacks.
Both teams scored four tries each in Whangarei, where Adam Hastings' penalty ultimately proved decisive.
Scotland, who are touring New Zealand for the first time in 25 years, will next take on Fiji and Samoa.
