The Ashes: Neser five-for blunts England's fight to push Australia to 2-0 lead
Michael Neser's five-for helped Australia storm to an eight-wicket victory over England on day four of the second Ashes Test, despite the tourists showing some fight.
Ben Stokes and Will Jacks gave England some slim hope after Saturday's top-order collapse, but it was not enough as Australia took a 2-0 lead thanks to their win at the Gabba.
Stokes (50) and Jacks (41) started at the crease on four runs apiece on Sunday and showed their composure to steady the ship with a 96-run partnership for the seventh wicket.
However, Steve Smith caught Jacks by diving low to his left at slip, with Neser's (5-42) bowling also leading to Stokes' dismissal shortly after.
That ultimately spelt the end for England, who were only able to add 14 more runs after the captain walked, and Neser also added to his haul by taking the final wicket, with Brydon Carse only able to get seven.
Having limited England to 241, Australia were set a target of 65, and it took them just 10 overs to secure the victory.
Gus Atkinson sent stumps flying to dismiss Travis Head (22) and also stopped Marnus Labuschagne (three), but Jake Weatherald's 17, coupled with Smith's 23 off nine balls, which included the winning six to take them to 69 in the second innings, got the job done.

Data Debrief: Australia enjoy Gabba stronghold
Australia are now undefeated across their last nine men's Tests against England at the Gabba (W8 D2) and have not lost such a fixture there since November 1986.
Neser propelled them to that victory, claiming a maiden Test five-for on his home ground for Queensland.
As for England, this was their 17th match without a win in Australia, losing 15 of those. Overall, this was their 10th defeat in 14 away Tests against all opponents.
Stokes' side now trail 2-0 in the series, and need to win the final three Tests to claim the urn, but they have never come from 2-0 behind to win in Australia.
