The Ashes: England would be 'silly' to change management, says Root
Joe Root believes it would be "silly" to change any of England's management despite their Ashes series defeat, with the players remaining committed to them.
England lost the first three matches of the Ashes but have avoided a whitewash by winning the fourth Test, which lasted just two days.
It was their first victory in Australia since 2011, ending a run of 18 Tests without a victory.
And due to some of the performances Down Under, captain Ben Stokes, head coach Brendon McCullum and director of cricket Rob Key have all come under pressure.
All three have spoken about their desire to stay in their roles, and Root says they still have the full backing of the players.
"In terms of the playing group, we're absolutely committed to the management," Root said.

"They've been outstanding, so I think it would be silly [to overlook] the amount of hard work and things that have been done.
"You look at the group of players that we've got, and you look at the guys that were involved in the team when I was captain four years ago – every single one of them has improved as a player. This team has improved as a team."
Root was the captain during England's last tour of Australia, which resulted in a 4-0 defeat in 2021-22. He later resigned after coach Chris Silverwood and director Ashley Giles were sacked.
As well as the results, England have also come under fire for their preparation and off-the-field activities, piling more pressure on the tourists in Australia.
"Yes, we can be better, and there are certain areas that we'll continue to keep working at, but the management work extremely hard," Root added.
"They might do things in a slightly different way, but I think we've made great strides as a group, and a big reason for it is because of the guys we have behind us."
