T20 World Cup: Dominant South Africa brush aside India
South Africa sent out a statement of intent at the T20 World Cup, with a brilliant all-round performance sealing a 76-run victory over holders India in the Super 8s.
David Miller impressed with the bat, and the bowlers did not let the Proteas down in their defence of a decent total, with Marco Jansen leading their charge.
It was not the best start for South Africa, who lost Quinton de Kock (6), Aiden Markram (4) and Ryan Rickelton (7) early on in the powerplay thanks to Jasprit Bumrah (3-15).
However, Dewald Brevis and David Miller, who finished on 45 and 63 respectively, put together a 97-run partnership for the fourth wicket.
Tristan Stubbs added an unbeaten 44 to take them to 187-7 before Markram dealt India an early blow in their chase by taking Ishan Kishan for a duck in the first over.
Jansen then stepped up to the plate with 4-22, including the vital wicket of Shivam Dube (42), who had started to give the co-hosts some hope.
However, that was snuffed out by Keshav Maharaj's stunning turn in the 15th over, when he took three wickets for just one run, and India were all out for 111 with seven balls remaining.

Data Debrief: India's streak halted
India had won 12 consecutive World Cup matches heading into Sunday's clash, but South Africa brilliantly recovered from 20-3 to stop them from hitting 13 in a row.
South Africa are unbeaten in each of their last five T20Is (W4 T1); the last time they had a longer such run in the format was during the 2024 T20 World Cup (eight games).
Despite a disappointing day for India, Bumrah has made some history. He is now his country's top wicket-taker at the T20 World Cup with 33, overtaking Ravichandran Ashwin (32).
