Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii said he will be "fully fit" to face the British and Irish Lions during their tour of Australia this summer.

Suaalii fractured his jaw in May after a collision with his Waratahs' team-mate Andrew Kellaway, causing fears that he could miss the upcoming Lions series.

Australia have a warm-up Test against Fiji on July 6 before the three Tests against the Lions on July 19, 26 and August 2.

The 21-year-old revealed he was initially worried about missing the tour but will be 100% for the Lions now.

"Yeah, I'll be fully fit for the Lions," said Suaalii. "I was a little bit worried [that I might miss the Lions tour].

"It's such an important time for myself and Australian rugby and I want to be playing, so obviously I was a little bit nervous.

"But I had surgery maybe three weeks ago now, and I am looking good going into the Lions."

Suaalii said he had worn a face mask to hide his swollen face after his operation and his weight dipped as he struggled to eat.

"I've put it all back on now," he added. "I've been eating heaps thanks to my mum, and I've had my family around me to help me stay on track."

In his recent matches for the Waratahs, Suaalii has been playing as a full-back despite initially starting at outside centre.

He believes his versatility will help improve his understanding of the game.

"It makes you a better rugby player. Seeing the game from a different perspective always helps you," Suaalii added.

"I am very confident in playing wing, centre and full-back."
