Smriti Mandhana starred as Royal Challengers Bengaluru broke Delhi Capitals' hearts with a six-wicket win in an enthralling Women's Premier League final.

A dramatic encounter in Vadodara came down to the final over as RCB, who were chasing a massive target of 204, got over the line with just two balls to spare.

Victory gave RCB their second title in the space of three years, while the Capitals have now lost the final in all four editions of the WPL, as they fell agonisingly short once again.

Delhi were in command of the contest after racking up a huge score of 203-4 – the highest total registered in a WPL final before it was surpassed in stunning fashion by RCB.

After being put in to bat, DC had overcome a nervous first three overs to set a formidable target, with Shafali Verma (20), Lizelle Lee (37), Laura Wolvaardt (44) and captain Jemimah Rodrigues (57) all making an impact.

Chinelle Henry then smashed 35 not out from 15 balls to help DC score 39 runs from the final two overs in an explosive finish to their innings.

It looked like game over early in RCB's reply when Henry (2-34) removed Grace Harris (9) at the start of the second over, but captain Smriti then put on a magnificent WPL record partnership of 165 with Georgia Voll.

Voll (79 off 54 balls) eventually fell in the 17th over, but RCB still seemed to have things completely in hand.

However, nerves were heightened when Richa Ghosh was subsequently removed for just 6 and the tension reached new levels when Henry bowled Smriti (87 from 41), with RCB still requiring 13 from 8 balls.

More drama followed when Radha Yadav was dropped first ball by Minnu Mani, and that proved to be the decisive moment as Radha (12 off 5) and Nadine de Klerk (7 off 5) gathered themselves to seal victory for RCB and cap a memorable encounter.

Data Debrief: Sensational Smriti claims Orange Cap

While she could not see RCB's chase right through to the end, India star Smriti was undoubtedly the difference in this match, producing a masterclass with the bat to help her side complete an unlikely run chase.

The opener struck 12 fours and three sixes to ensure she posted stunning tournament statistics, finishing with 377 runs at an average of 53.85 and a strike rate of 153.25.

A match-winning innings meant Smriti moved past Mumbai Indians' Harmanpreet Kaur (342) to claim the Orange Cap award for the most runs in this season's WPL.

RCB's win means the 2026 WPL is the first season that the team who topped the table in the regular season has gone on to win the tournament. In the previous three seasons, DC had topped the league standings only to lose in the final.
