Six Nations: England must be prepared for 'hurting' Scotland, says Mitchell

England scrum-half Alex Mitchell has warned his team-mates to be ready to face a "hurting" Scotland side on Saturday.

Scotland's Six Nations campaign started with a shock 18-15 defeat to Italy in Rome, with their chances of lifting the trophy already taking a huge blow.

England, on the other hand, thrashed Wales 48-7, equalling their second-highest margin of victory against Wales in the men's Home/Five/Six Nations, only behind their 68-14 win in Cardiff last year.

It was a particularly impressive performance from Henry Arundell, who at 23 years and 91 days old became the youngest England player to score a men's Six Nations hat-trick.

England currently lead the way in the tournament after the first game, with holders France also securing their four-try bonus point in their opener against Ireland.

Mitchell, however, has urged the England squad to be wary of the threat Scotland will pose at Murrayfield.

"I think it's going to be a tough Test match, as it always is with them," Mitchell said. "Obviously, they're a quality side.

"They're hurting from the result last week against Italy. So, they know they're going to come firing out the blocks that first 20.

"I think, obviously, there's going to be a massive reaction. I think that always happens after a loss. You're obviously frustrated and you want to kick into the next game as soon as possible.

"So, yes, they're going to be hurting and obviously going back home for them is going to be a massive, massive boost for them."
