Wales' Carter keen to build on Six Nations impression
Wales' Ben Carter hopes his impressive Six Nations performances can kick-start his international career.
The 25-year-old was made to wait after his Wales debut in 2021, playing just six minutes in the Six Nations before showing his quality at this year's championship.
Carter was a replacement against England and France before finally starting against Scotland, replacing British and Irish Lions lock Adam Beard in a true credit to his potential.
He then kept the number five shirt when facing Ireland before remaining in from the start for the victory over Italy, which was Wales' first win at the Six Nations in three years.
"There are a lot of good second rows, and I was just glad I was given my opportunity," said 19-cap Carter.
"Adam Beard was really supportive and offered me lots of help around the lineout where I needed it, and I appreciated that."

Carter had been offered a chance last year for his national side, though a head injury less than a minute into the first Test against Japan curtailed that opportunity to impress.
However, the Wales lock will hope to keep hold of the jersey when his side take on the Barbarians, Fiji, Argentina and South Africa in June and July.
"I've got more opportunities than I had in the past, and I know the results weren't amazing, but I enjoyed the whole camp," said Carter.
"I look forward to hopefully being involved again and being more successful, because there were definitely some aspects that were really positive, even when the results weren't there.
"Hopefully, people can see the forward steps that we took, and nothing feels like winning, so it was good that we got that feeling against Italy."
