Garry Ringrose will miss the British and Irish Lions' third and final Test against Australia due to concussion protocols.

Ireland centre Ringrose withdrew from contention for the second Test in Melbourne last week, which the Lions won 29-26 via a last-minute try from Hugo Kennan, after suffering the symptoms of a concussion.

Ringrose also missed the first Test in Brisbane, and he will not be able to feature when the series draws to a close in Sydney this weekend.

Ringrose must observe a 12-day concussion protocol, with Andy Farrell's assistant coach Andrew Goodman telling reporters the 30-year-old's team-mates are gutted for him.

"Garry was playing some amazing rugby on this tour, and it's been a dream of his for so long to represent the Lions, and he's managed to do that," Goodman said.

"But he wanted to be a Test match Lion, so it's been devastating for him. Everyone knows Garry's a great lad and a great team man.

"The boys have all been disappointed for him. He's obviously disappointed himself, but he's getting around everyone and making sure he helps prepare them as much as he can.

"He's a real leader for us, in terms of the backline in particular."

Not since 1927, on a tour of Argentina (4-0), have the Lions completed a clean sweep of a series, but they could end that long wait this weekend.
